Kids classes

Amherstburg karate club

Youth Program

Ages 8-12 years old

Karate promotes physical fitness, flexibility, and self-defence, and also teaches character development and pacifism. Using intelligence and introspection, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and appreciation for others through training and physical conditioning. Those who practice martial arts develop a steadfast and principled philosophy.

Youth Beginners

White, White w/ Stripes, Yellow, Yellow w/ Stipe,Orange, and Orange w/Stripe Belt

We feel it is imperative that children learn self-defence; it is more critical that they develop confidence and self-esteem. Our beginner classes are aimed at the idea that if they're having fun, your kids will want to continue their training. While they learn self-defence as their primary focus, they will also take part in other events and develop social skills and character-building habits.

Youth Intermediate

Purple, Purple w/Stripe, Green, Green w/Stripe, Blue, and Blue w/Stripe Belt

During class time, students will continue to develop basic karate skills and learn about Bunkai. This level introduces the concepts of proper breathing and the exploration of ki energy through the study of the kata Sanchin. In future curriculum development, karate theory, history, and philosophy will be given greater consideration.

Youth Advanced

Brown, Brown w/Stripe, Brown x2 Stripe, Shodan-ho and up

While the student prepares for Shodan, he or she will focus on advanced technique, kata, and kubudo. As we examine the role of karate ethics in our lives, we will explore its importance. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of the history of martial arts, the history of Okinawa Gojyu-Ryu, Students at this level are challenged and tested in these classes. It is encouraged for first kyu and second kyu students to participate in the children's classes and/or assist new adult students in the dojo.

Basic Workouts

What are the techniques of Goju-Ryu?

Gōjū-ryū incorporates both circular and linear movements into its curriculum, combining hard striking attacks such as kicks and close-hand punches with softer open-hand circular techniques for attacking, blocking, and controlling the opponent, including joint locks, grappling, takedowns, and throws.
